Lowest severe (tornado) year on record

Here is the trend for 2013. Black line is the current trend. As you can see, through August, it is tracking in the lowest ever percentile for severe weather (40% below normal). Pretty amazing after last years low severe weather statistics. That combined with no real land falling hurricanes since Ike in 2008, leads to a lot less storm restoration projects going on. Who knows when this trend will reverse!!!
